String Duo at Fearrington Village
A string duo at Fearrington Village was the perfect musical setting for this outdoor North Carolina wedding. Corda Entertainment provided violin and cello for the ceremony, surrounded by the mature trees, gardens, and distinctive architecture that make Fearrington such a recognizable wedding destination.
Set in the countryside just south of Chapel Hill, Fearrington Village is much more than a standalone wedding venue. The property developed around a historic former dairy farm and brings together gardens, open pastures, brick pathways, accommodations, dining, shopping, and gathering spaces within one destination. For couples planning a wedding weekend in the Triangle, that combination makes it possible for much of the experience to take place within Fearrington Village.
For this wedding, our violin and cello duo performed outdoors as guests gathered for the ceremony. Violin carries the upper melodic voice while cello adds warmth and depth, giving the ensemble a full sound while maintaining the intimacy that works particularly well for a garden ceremony.
From prelude music as guests arrive through the processional and recessional, live strings can become part of the atmosphere of the ceremony while complementing the natural setting.
String Duo at Fearrington Village for an Outdoor Wedding
Our string duo at Fearrington Village performed within a landscape that is central to the character of the property.
The gardens were part of co-founders R.B. and Jenny Fitch’s original vision for Fearrington Village. Their approach was influenced by their North Carolina roots as well as the intimate English villages they visited. Today, the grounds combine mature trees, garden borders, courtyards, open lawns, brick pathways, meadows, and established plantings.
Jenny’s Garden, beside the Fearrington House Inn, includes a distinctive white arbor designed to Jenny Fitch’s specifications as well as a fountain created by sculptor Wayne Trapp. Throughout Fearrington, white architectural details, brick paths, mature landscaping, and large trees give the grounds the feeling of an established village rather than a property designed solely as an event venue.
That variety is particularly valuable for wedding photography. Couples can move between gardens, tree-lined areas, brick paths, open lawns, and the Village’s architecture without having to travel to a separate portrait location. Fearrington also includes pre-wedding portrait privileges throughout its gardens and grounds with its ceremony offering.
Planning a Wedding at Fearrington Village
For couples considering Fearrington Village, one of the property's biggest practical advantages is how much of the wedding experience can happen in one place.
Fearrington accommodates celebrations ranging from approximately 10 to 250 guests, depending on the venue selected, with spaces available for ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and more intimate gatherings.
Fearrington notes that most couples reserve their weddings approximately 12 to 18 months in advance, particularly when planning for popular wedding seasons.
Outdoor ceremonies also have an important logistical consideration built into the planning process: Fearrington arranges an alternate indoor plan for each outdoor ceremony.
Its ceremony offering includes planning and day-of coordination, a coordinator-led rehearsal, private dressing areas, ceremony furnishings, and an overnight stay in a Grand Suite at The Fearrington House Inn with breakfast.
For couples who want an outdoor garden ceremony without having to coordinate every logistical element independently, having these components available through the property can simplify a significant portion of wedding planning.
Fearrington Village Wedding Reception Options
After the ceremony, couples have several reception possibilities rather than being limited to a single type of space.
The Fearrington Barn is a restored 1927 barn featuring soaring ceilings, hand-hewn wooden columns, and distinctive twig chandeliers. The Barn is climate controlled and is designed for larger receptions of approximately 125 to 250 guests.
Couples looking for a different atmosphere can consider the Garden Terrace, situated beneath mature oak trees beside the Fearrington House Restaurant. Fearrington also has more intimate dining and gathering spaces for smaller events.
This gives couples the ability to create different environments throughout the wedding while remaining within the same destination. An outdoor garden ceremony can transition into a reception space with a completely different architectural character without requiring guests to travel between unrelated venues.
Dining, Wedding Cakes, and the Fearrington Experience
Food is also integrated directly into the wedding experience at Fearrington.
The wedding team works alongside Fearrington’s culinary and pastry teams, with dining options ranging from family-style service to formal plated dinners.
Couples can also work with Fearrington on their wedding cake, including choices involving flavors, soaks, icing, and decoration. Beverage selections can similarly be incorporated into the event.
This becomes particularly valuable for couples planning an entire wedding weekend instead of only a ceremony and reception.
Guests can stay at The Fearrington House Inn, visit the spa, explore the gardens, browse the Village shops and McIntyre’s Books, and dine within Fearrington. The Fearrington House Inn is part of Relais & Châteaux, while The Fearrington House Restaurant provides the Village’s fine-dining experience.
Instead of guests arriving shortly before the ceremony and leaving immediately after the reception, Fearrington provides opportunities for couples, families, and friends to spend more of the wedding weekend together.
Live Wedding Music at Fearrington Village
Having a string duo at Fearrington Village works especially well for couples who want the sound and visual presence of multiple string instruments without requiring a larger ensemble.
Violin typically carries much of the melody while cello provides the lower register and harmonic foundation. Together, the instruments can perform classical wedding repertoire as well as arrangements of contemporary music, allowing couples to choose music that reflects their own preferences.
A violin and cello duo can also perform throughout multiple portions of the ceremony. Prelude selections establish the atmosphere as guests arrive before transitioning into music for family entrances, the wedding party, the processional, and finally the recessional.
Couples considering live music for their Fearrington wedding can visit our services page to explore Corda Entertainment’s soloists, violin and cello duos, string trios, string quartets, harp ensembles, jazz ensembles, and orchestras.
A Wedding Destination Near Chapel Hill
One of the most distinctive aspects of Fearrington Village is that it does not function simply as the location where the ceremony takes place.
Its gardens, historic farm setting, accommodations, dining, reception spaces, shops, and walkable Village allow different portions of a wedding weekend to remain connected. At the same time, the variety of architecture and landscaping means the ceremony, portraits, dinner, and reception do not all have to share the same visual setting.
For couples researching wedding venues near Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, or elsewhere in the Triangle, Fearrington offers the atmosphere of an established countryside village together with the infrastructure necessary for a much larger wedding-weekend experience.
For this wedding, Corda Entertainment was honored to provide a string duo at Fearrington Village, with violin and cello accompanying the outdoor ceremony among the property's gardens and mature trees.
